Bracelet winner Susan Faber opened the action with a raise to 1,000 from early position. Megan Collins in the hijack called, as did Tamar Abraham in the cutoff, the player in the small blind and Kathy Saraf in the big blind.
The flop came 6♦3♥6♥. After checks from both blinds, Faber continued for 2,000 and Collins and Abraham both folded. The small blind called and Saraf raised to 7,600. Faber folded, but the player in the small blind, after some thinking, put in the call.
The turn was the Q♥. The small blind shoved for 9,100. Saraf thought for a moment, got the count and then called.
Small blind: 5♣5♦
Kathy Saraf: A♥6♣
Saraf was way ahead with her trips and the river J♣ gave her the lock on the hand, while her opponent headed to the reentries.
The table has had additional stakes going on apart from the tournament itself. Megan Collins has brought tiny glass ducks to the WSOP, which she adds to every pot that she gets involved in. Whoever wins the hand, also gets the small duck. Most of the players have got a duck so far, but this was Saraf's first. While she told the table that the odds and her hand were too good to fold anyway, the chance to win the duck definitely made the call easier.
Action folded to an opponent in middle position, who moved all in for their remaining 4,200 stack. Raylene Celaya was on the button and was the only caller.
Middle position: 4♠4♥
Raylene Celaya: A♣Q♣
The flop came 7♦J♦6♣ and the 9♣ turn and A♥ river only improved Celaya, as the opponent was knocked out of the tournament in the third level of the day.
Just before the break, Carole Segoura was in the cutoff and heads-up against an opponent in an early position on a A♠K♦K♠ flop.
Both players checked to a A♦ turn. Early position bet 1,600 and Segoura made the call.
The players saw a 5♦ river and early position checked to Segoura who bet 2,500. Early position folded and said "I had pocket queens, and it was definitely no good".
In the next hand, Segoura was in the hijack and called a jam from a middle position player on a 6♦2♣J♣ flop.
Carole Segoura: 6♥6♣
Opponent: KxKx
Segoura's set of sixes held on the Q♥4♥ runout, and secured her the double.
