Cong Pham open-raised from the cutoff and his David Sebesfi jammed all-in from the small blind. Pham made the call and the pair showed down, with Sebesfi being at risk.
David Sebesfi: A♠7♥
Cong Pham: A♦K♥
Sebesfi was caught trying to steal Pham's raise, and when the board ran out 3♠9♠A♦8♠Q♦, he was severely punished for it.
Sebesfi was eliminated and Pham recovered some lost chips from the previous hand.
Michael Duek raised for Lorenzo Santos Rodriguez to defend the big blind. On a K♠10♣6♦ flop, Santos Rodriguez check-called for 125,000 to then do so again on the 8♦ turn for 350,000.
Both checked the K♣ river and Santos Rodriguez tabled his 9♣8♥, which Duek had beat with the 10♠8♠ for superior two pair.
Fortunes can change with the turn of a card in the Main Event, and that's exactly what just happened to Logan Hoover.
Hoover was all in for 2,385,000 from early position and up against Aditya Systla in middle position.
Logan Hoover: A♣K♦
Aditya Systla: Q♣Q♥
"Hold up," Hoover cried out as he stood up from his seat to await the flop. He hit the K♥, but the rest of the flop came Q♠7♣ and Systla made a set as Hoover turned away in disgust.
The turn, though, gave him some hope as it came K♣. "Ace one time," he yelled out. He didn't hit an ace, but the dealer did turn over the K♠ as Hoover made running quads.
"Yes," Hoover yelled as he ran away from the table. A big crowd gathered around the table and took photos of the board as Hoover returned to rake in the pot.
"Excuse me, I just made quads in the Main Event," Hoover said.
"That's the sickest thing I've ever seen," a tablemate told him.
Mason Vieth was out of position in a heads-up pot against Rodrigo Motoki on a board of 8♥2♥6♠A♠J♠. With around 2,000,000 already in the pot, Vieth bet a sizable 1,150,000. Motoki called.
Vieth showed top pair top kicker with A♦K♥, but it was no good as his opponent rolled over A♥6♥ for aces and sixes to take down the big pot.
On a completed board of 5♥3♦Q♦6♠9♣, Cong Pham bet out from the big blind for 175,000 into a pot of around 450,000. Tinay Aksoy was under the gun and put out a raise to 450,000.
Pham thought for a good while before calling, and quickly mucked his cards when Aksoy tabled his 9♥9♦ for a rivered set.
Ludovic Geilich raised to 125,000 on the button and Ryan Andrada defended from the big blind. The flop came J♦4♠2♣ and Andrada check-called a bet of 95,000 from Geilich.
The 4♦ paired the board on the turn and both players checked to the 3♣ on the river. Andrada checked again and Geilich tossed in a bet of 245,000. Andrada thought for a moment and then called. Geilich tabled 6♥6♣ but Andrada held J♥7♥ for the better two pair.
Heads-up on a flop of 5♥4♣9♦, Gustavo Masteloto moved his last 1,800,000 into the middle and was up against Liran Betito on the button.
Gustavo Mastelotto: K♠K♣
Liran Betito: 5♦4♠
"Wow," several tablemates cried out after seeing Betito's flopped two pair. The 4♥ on the turn improved him to a full house and left Mastelotto looking for just two outs on the river to stay alive.
The 5♠ wasn't one of them and the table let out another collective "wow" as Betito leapt from his seat and clapped his hands together while a stunned Mastelotto made his way to the exit.
