Mercier Gets Paid

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Picking up the action on the turn, Jason Mercier on the button was involved in a hand with Eric Fields in the big blind. With the board reading 61035 Fields checked. Mercier responded by pushing a bet of 15,500 into the middle. Fields took a significant amount of time before making the call to send the two players to the river.

The 9 river saw Fields check once more. Mercier was not willing to go to a cheap showdown just yet, instead firing off 28,000. That bet sent Fields deep into the tank as he counted out his stack while sizing up his opponent. Eventually he committed calling chips but mucked with visible frustration as Mercier turned over AA for the overpair.

Khalili's Aces Send Slay to the Rail

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

On the turn of K1036, Sohale Khalili fired a bet of 18,000 into the pot of 65,500. Kelley Slay went deep in the tank, peeling his cards back and staring at them. After about two minutes, he made the call.

The 6 landed on the river and Khalili stacked up two piles of chips and pushed them across the line for a bet of 32,000. Slay said, "Okay, I am in too deep," and called off his stack of about 30,000, while rolling over AK but it was no good as Khalili showed AA, sending Slay out of the tournament.

Chris Moneymaker, Viktar Horbach, and Jan Jacobs were three-way to a turn on 938Q. Moneymaker checked from the small blind and so did Horbach from middle position. Jacobs then bet 6,000 into the pot of 25,000 from the hijack before Moneymaker raised it up to 22,000.

Horbach quickly folded with his shorter stack but Horbach stuck around for a call. The 7 river completed the board and Moneymaker bet for another 37,500 chips.

Jacobs thought about it for a few seconds but ended up letting his hand go, shipping the pot to the champion of the historic 2003 Main Event Champion.

After celebrating his friend's wedding, rapper Steven "Hoodie Allen" Markowitz took the first flight from New York to Las Vegas this morning to make it in time for the start of Day 3. Unfortunately for Markowitz, his tournament journey was short-lived as recounted by Arthur Souza De Campos, the player who busted him.

Markowitz raised under the gun to 5,000, Campos to his direct left three-bet to 15,000 and Markowitz four-bet to 26,000. Campos put him to the test for his tournament life, five-bet shoving all in for Markowitz's last 120,000. Markowitz called.

Steven Markowitz: AA
Arthur Souza De Campos: AK

The board ran out in sickening fashion as it came J3Q210. Campos rivered a straight to crack Markowitz's aces, sending him to the rail.

First to Bet Wins

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Preflop action began with a raise to 5,500 by Alec Torelli in the hijack. Nicolas Plantin called from the small blind, while Chris Dombrowski defended his big blind.

The flop came 3910, and all three players checked. The same happened on the Q turn.

The Q arrived on the river, and Plantin checked a third time. Dombrowski bet 9,000, which led to folds from Torelli and Plantin. Dombrowski took down the pot and added some much-needed chips to his stack.

Fast Under Starting Stack; Le Busted

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Dietrich Fast raised to 4,000 from early position and saw a three-bet to 12,500 from his neighbor John Power. The action folded back to Fast, who put in the extra chips for a call.

The flop then came 859 and both players checked. On the A turn, Fast checked to Power again, who opted to bet for 16,500 this time. Fast made the call and the 6 river subsequentially completed the board.

Both players checked again and Fast tabled AJ for a pair of aces. Power had that beat, however, as he turned over 99 for flopped top set. He raked in the pot and knocked down Fast to under 20 big blinds.

On another table, Ken Le's seat card laid in front of his empty seat, signaling his elimination from the tournament.
