Rushton Gets There on the Turn

A player in the cutoff bet 3,000 on a flop of 10♠6♦5♠ before Brian Rushton, in the big blind, raised to 11,000. The cutoff then moved all in and Rushton called for around 30,000.

Rushton was up against his opponent's set of sixes and was looking to complete his draws. The K♠ on the turn was the help he was looking for as Rushton now made a flush. The J♣ river failed to pair the board and Rushton doubled up.

"Trying to do what the guy did last year," a tablemate asked Rushton, evoking Espen Jorstad's run last year when he went from 17,000 on Day 2 to the title.

Kamori Yusuf raised 3,500 in the cutoff and Giovani Torre three-bet jammed for 33,100 in the big blind. The action was back on Yusuf who thought about it for about 15 seconds before saying, "Okay, let's gamble!" And put in the chips to call.

Lappin Misses the Draw

A board of 2♣9♣5♥7♠ lay on the table in a pot between David Lappin and Daniel Custodio. Lappin was first to act and checked to Custodio, who made a bet of 15,000 into the 29,000 pot.

Lappin thought for a good while before announcing "all-in." He covered his opponent but got snap called by him.

Lappin had two overcards to the board and a flush draw, but only the latter was live. The river came a red card with the K♦ and Lappin missed his flush, resulting in a double-up for Custodio.

Cha's River Bet Gets the Job Done

A player in early position raised to 2,500, finding Andrew Cha in the big blind who three-bet to 9,000. The original raiser called.

On a flop of 6♣3♥7♥, Cha continued for 6,500. His opponent elected to see a turn.

The K♥ checked through to the 8♣ on the river. Cha bet out for 22,000 which sent his opponent into the tank.

After nearing two minutes on their decision, the player in early position eventually folded and Cha claimed this pot.

Phil Ivey Will, Once Again, Not Win the Main Event

It was not Phil Ivey's day today and he just lost his last few chips as well. The Poker Hall of Famer will not add an eleventh bracelet to his resume in the 2023 WSOP Main Event.

He has come close a couple of times, but this year he fizzled out on Day 2 before the dinner break.

Zinno Doubles Up Epstein

Action was picked up on the flop with the board reading 7♠5♦2♦ and players heads up. Alex Epstein bet 8,000 from the big blind and Anthony Zinno raised it to 35,000 from the button. Epstein moved all in for approximately 70,000 total and Zinno made the call to put Epstein at risk.

Both players had top pair. Epstein had the better kicker but Zinno had a jack-high flush draw to give him several outs to pull ahead. Those outs never materialized when the rest of the board ran out 9♠3♠ and Epstein secured a full double up while Zinno was left somewhat short-stacked.

Zyrin Stays Aggressive

A player opened to 2,500 from under the gun and was called by a player in early position. Anatolii Zyrin then three-bet to 12,500 out of the small blind, getting a fold from the original raiser but a call from the early position player.

Zyrin continued for 11,500 on the 8♥K♠5♦ flop and that bet alone was enough to force a fold from his opponent, keeping Zyrin chipping up.

Sisler Finds Miracle Runout To Stay Alive

A player in middle position opened to 3,500 and Scott Sisler moved all in for 8,100 in the cutoff. The rest of the table folded and the initial raiser made the call to put Sisler at risk.

Sisler was slightly out front, but would need to dodge the live cards for his opponent. When the flop fanned out 10♥7♠6♦, it looked like the end was near for Sisler who would need running cards to find a win.

The turn fell the 9♠ to give some hope with a gut-shot straight draw, and the miracle river fell the J♦ to complete the straight for Sisler to double up in dramatic fashion.

The whole table was shocked. "He hit four rivers to stay alive now," said a tablemate explaining that Sisler found luck before with the river.

"We're going to call you the river monster," joked another player at the table while Sisler collected the pot.
