Xanthopoulos Takes A 3-Way Pot

Livello 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Pavlos Xanthopoulos opened from middle position to 2,200, and was called by Samy Dubonnet on the button and Ignacio Moron in the big blind.

On the flop JA2, Xanthopoulos made a continuation bet of 2,500. But Dubonnet raised to 8,000. Moron check-called this amount, as did Xanthopoulos.

The turn was the 4. Moron and Xanthopoulos checked to Dubonnet, who also checked. After the river K, all three players checked again.

The first player to show his cards, Moron, revealed A10 for a pair of aces. However, it wasn't enough as Xanthopoulos revealed AK for two pairs, the winning hand.

Williams Puts a River Beat on Kurshumi

Livello 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Heads-up on a flop of 7109, Jimmy Williams bet 9,000 from early position before Ardit Kurshumi laid out a row of red 5,000 chips in front of him, raising to 25,000. Williams then moved all in for 42,000 and Kurshumi snap-called.

Jimmy Williams: KJ
Ardit Kurshumi: 96

Kurshumi had flopped a pair of nines with a straight draw, while Williams had a flush draw and his own draw to a straight. The 4 turn was no help, but the Q fell on the river to give Williams a higher straight.

"I had to suck out sometime," a grateful Williams said as he took the pot from a disheartened Kurshumi.

You Can't Rid of Masarsky That Easily

Livello 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

On the button, Ariela Masarsky called the cutoff's 2,200 preflop raise. She called again when the cutoff bet 1,900 on the Q10A flop.

Both checked the 2 turn and 5 river, and the cutoff was forced to show his 86, and Masarsky took down the pot with QJ.

Lakhdari Among the Big Stacks in Horseshoe

Livello 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

As recalled by Kevin Gerhart, there had been a big pot unfolding on their table and it spelled the end for Nicolas Georgiadis. In a three-bet pot, he check-called a bet by Omar Lakhdari on the 10x8x2x flop and then check-raised big on the 5x turn. Georgiadis jammed the Kx river with pocket tens for flopped set only to get shown pocket kings for the superior set by Lakhdari.

Further assorted stacks from nearby tables can be found below.

Difficult Fold for Simao

Joao Simao
Joao Simao

Joao Simao opened under the gun and Cristian Pernacastro called before Douglas Adkins three-bet to 5,500 in the cutoff. Simao replied with a four-bet to 23,000 and only Adkins stayed interested and called.

The flop gave 749 and Soma bet 5,600. Adkins announced all in for 70,600 and Simao went deep into the tank with a remaining stack worth 58,000.

"You really have nines?" asked Simao, not long before sending his cards into the muck.

Foxen Busts One, Van der Spuy Also Gone

Livello 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

Alex Foxen raised to 2,000 from early position and Ronald Spooner called from the next seat over. Big blind Jordan Grant also came along and the flop of 7Q10 was dealt.

All players checked before Foxen was the one to put in a bet of 4,000 after another check from Grant. Spooner called and Grant folded, leaving a few big blinds behind.

The 6 river then fell and Foxen shoved all in, covering Spooner's 14,500 remaining chips. Spooner mulled it over before eventually putting in the call.

Foxen showed AA for the overpair and they beat the K10 of Spooner by a wide margin. Spooner left the tournament area while Foxen raked in a nice pot to chip up.

Meanwhile, Day 1b chip leader Jean-Pierre van der Spuy has also exited Day 2abc, after a disappointing day.
