One year removed from a rough summer, Daniel Negreanu is fighting his way back to within striking distance in the Player of the Year race — sort of — and he's doing so with large field event success.
At the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP), the Poker Hall of Famer lost $1.1 million and was never in contention for Player of the Year. He isn't really in contention yet this year, but he isn't too far off from getting to that point.
Players are on a 15-minute break.
Dan Shak put his tournament on the line, and his bounty up for grabs, moving all in from the small blind for 180,000. Carl Shaw snap-called.

The board ran out as clean as can be for Shaw, 3♣2♠6♠4♥9♠, and Shak tossed his bounty chit to Shaw.

Rast spiked the ten he needed on a 5♣J♦10♥ flop and Spirins could herd no more ducks on a 9♠8♠ turn and river to aid his cause.
"84,000. That's something," said a relieved Rast.

David Peters was in early position against Tetsuma Ishizu in the small blind.
The pot stood at approximately 200,000 as the board read 5♦8♦2♣. Ishizu led out for 100,000 and Peters called.

David Peters: Q♠Q♣
Tetsuma Ishizu: A♣A♦
The river came the 3♦ and Peters was eliminated in 87th place. All remaining players were now in the money for a guaranteed minimum cash of $10,858.
