Sour End for Pastura

Phil Collins has now sky-rocketed into the overall chip lead after felting Giuseppe Pastura!

The action folded to Pastura who raised to 52,000 from middle position before the flop; Mario Silvestri flat-called from the button, but Collins then made it 200,000 to go from the big blind. Pastura four-bet it to 552,000 and Silvestri folded, but Collins shoved over the top. Pastura insta-called.

Collins: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Pastura: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The dealer spread the flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, which gave Pastura some much-needed flush draw outs, but both players then picked up a potential chopportunity with the {5-Hearts} on the turn. Needing any jack or club to double up, Pastura departed after the {K-Diamonds} spiked on the river.

And just like that, Collins is up to more than 6.2 million in chips!

Mean Turn Means End for McNamara

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Patrick McNamara raised to 55,000 from early position and got one caller in Cortland McJannet from a couple of seats over. It folded around to Niall Charlton in the big blind who reraised to 145,000. McNamara responded by shoving all in for 830,000 total, and McJannet stepped aside.

Charlton: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
McNamara: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The flop came {K-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, putting the at-risk McNamara out in front. But the {Q-Diamonds} landed on the turn, giving Charlton a set and turning the {8-Diamonds} on the river into a bit of WSOP trivia.

McNamara is out, while Charlton pushes up to about 2.8 million.

Debus Goes Home Courtesy of One-Outer

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

We caught up to the action to see Alexander Debus all in and ahead with {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} on a board of {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} against the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} of John Hewitt.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and Hewitt would need one of the two remaining kings in order to send Debus home. Unfortunately for Debus, the {K-Hearts} struck the river, causing the table to gasp in unison.

"Oh wow...I folded a king," one of the other players at the table said. Debus could only stand there staring at the board and what possibly could have been had the deck complied.

Good-Bye Guinther

We didn't catch the betting, but we do know that James Guinther was all in preflop for his last 380,000 and up against Martin Staszko.

Showdown
Guinther: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Staszko: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

Guinther had gotten his money in good, but the {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop quickly diminished any hopes he had of staging a comeback and making a run at the 2011 WSOP Main Event title. The {5-Spades} turn officially left Guinther drawing dead, while the {10-Spades} was put out on the river as a simple formality.

Guinther made his way from the Amazon Room while Staszko chipped up to 2.74 million.

Becker Gets Some Back

The action folded to Pablo Ubierna who moved all in for effectively 129,000 in the small blind. Jeff Becker called all in from the big.

Ubierna: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Becker: {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Becker was behind, but the {k-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop gave him kings and sixes. The {3-Hearts} on the turn was a brick, and so too was the {j-Diamonds} on the river, doubling Becker to 285,000 chips.

Follain Fit For Action

Bryan Follain opened the pot to 56,000 in early position, and Daryl Jace three-bet him from the button. It was 127,000 total, but Follain still wanted to play for more. He stacked together another raise and made it 247,000 total. Still not satisfied, Jace five-bet to 477,000 total. Follain moved all in over the top now, and Jace could not play. He snap-folded, in fact,

A Peltecki Pick-Me-Up

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Mathew Frankland opened with a raise to 48,000 from middle position, and it folded around to Robert Peltecki who called from the small blind. Jared Vengrin folded from the big blind, and the two remaining players saw the flop come {3-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Peltecki checked, and Frankland continued with a bet of 250,000 -- more than the 157,000 or so Peltecki had behind. Peltecki quickly called with his remaining chips, showing {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for trip nines while Frankland had {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The {3-Spades} on the turn improved Peletcki to a full house and made the {5-Clubs} river no matter.

Peltecki moves up to 461,000 on that one, while Frankland falls to 1.285 million.

Lamb on Top of the WSOP Player-of-the-Year Leaderboard

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Ben Lamb's incredible run in 2011 continues to roll. Now that we're down to 137 players in the Main Event, Lamb is guaranteed at least 75 points in the 2011 World Series of Poker Player-of-the-Year Race, meaning he will finish the summer with a minimum of 734.05 points. That is especially significant since is vaults him in front of Phil Hellmuth (710.25 points) on top the POY Leaderboard.

Luckily for Hellmuth, the race will continue in October at the WSOP-Europe.

Olsen Out

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

A second early elimination from Table 314 to report, this one Carl Olson.

Olson was all in before the flop for his last 500,000 or so with {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and in a race with Feming Chan's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. The five community cards came {2-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, and Chan's queens held. Olson is out, while Chan now sits with 1.12 million.

Early Double for Lindgren

Just seven minutes into Day 6, Erick Lindgren got off to a great start with an early double. It began when Lindgren shoved all in from early position for 329,000 and cleared the field all the way around to Minh Nguyen in the big blind. Nguyen thought for a few moments before making the call.

Showdown
Lindgren: {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Nguyen: {A-Spades}{7-Spades}

The ESPN cameras swarmed the table to capture the all-in moment of one of the biggest names remaining in the field. The atmosphere was tense, but alleviated when the {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop gave Lindgren a pair of nines and increased his chances of winning the pot. The {10-Diamonds} turn put an end to any further suspense as Nguyen was drawing dead.

The meaningless {5-Diamonds} was put out on the river and Lindgren was all smiles with his early double.
