Ruthenberg vs. Gelencser

Sebastian Ruthenberg
Sebastian Ruthenberg

We caught up to this hand with 250,000 in the pot and a board reading {Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Peter Gelencser led out for 177,000 from the big blind and was called by Sebastian Ruthenberg in middle position, leading to the {3-Diamonds} river.

Gelencser kept the pressure on with a bet of 311,000, but this time Ruthenberg pushed back to the tune of one million! Gelencser tanked for awhile before tossing his hand to the muck.

Elder Eliminated

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Rupert Elder began Day 6 with 933,000. But the Englishman had swiftly fallen to about a third of that stack when he committed all of his chips before the flop with {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and was in need of help versus Ryan Lenaghan's {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

The board brought no such relief for Elder, coming {6-Spades}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} and sending him railward. Lenaghan pushes up around 2.9 million.

Harder's Stack Gets Higher

Over in "The Mothership" the action folded around to Christian Harder who raised to 60,000 from late position before 2010 November Niner Joseph Cheong called to go heads-up to the flop of {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{5-Clubs}.

Harder then led out for 68,000 and Cheong called before the action repeated after Harder's bet of 130,000 on the turn of the {8-Diamonds}. However, when the dealer peeled off the river of the {4-Clubs}, Cheong folded after Harder pushed out a bet worth 247,000.

Hewitt Chipping Up

Board: {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The action checked to Tom Koral who fired 100,000. John Hewitt called, and so did Bryan Follain. The turn was the {2-Hearts}, and the action checked to Hewitt who slid out a small castle of orange T5,000 chips totaling 250,000. Both of his opponents folded, and Hewitt won the pot.

Welcome Back, Cogert

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

First in from the button, Mitchell Cogert raised to 75,000, and Andrey Pateychuk three-bet to 175,000 next door. When the big blind folded, Cogert shoved all in for 490,000, and Pateychuck quickly called to put him at risk. The news was not good for Cogert:

Showdown
Cogert: {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}
Pateychuk: {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}

Things would get better in a hurry for the at-risk player as the {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} {4-Clubs} flop paired his kicker, bringing him into a big lead. He had to fade the gutterball now, and the turn {2-Clubs} and river {8-Hearts} were safe and sound. It's a double for Cogert, a come-from-behind double, at that. He's up to about 1.03 million now, knocking Pateychuk back to 975,000 or so.

E-Dog Takes Bite Out of Bonding

Livello 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Lars Bonding opened with a raise to 50,000 from the hijack seat, and only Erick Lindgren called from the small blind.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Lindgren led with a bet of 80,000. Bonding minimum-raised to 160,000, and Lindgren shoved over the top for 551,000 total. Bonding called, showing {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for top pair of kings. But Lindgren had {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for kings with a better kicker.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and river the {3-Clubs}, and Lindgren doubles to more than 1.2 million. Bonding still has about 2.7 million.

Bonkowski Busts Becker

Jeff Becker was in middle position and open shipped his short stack of 225,000. Tyler Bonkowski made the call from the cutoff, while the rest of the field got out of the way.

Showdown
Bonkowski: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Becker: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

What started as a classic flip quickly turned into a hammerlock for Bonkowski as the flop came down {5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}; however, Becker did have faint hopes with a gut-shot straight draw. The {9-Clubs} destroyed those dreams though, as Bonkowski filled up and left Becker drawing dead. The inconsequential {4-Diamonds} was put out on the river as Becker was escorted to the payout desk.

Bonkowski is up to 3.05 million.
