PokerNews Podcast Special: Shaun Deeb Talks $800K Body Fat Prop Buyout & 2024 WSOP Schedule

Livello 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

On this special episode of the PokerNews Podcast sponsored by 888poker, Chad Holloway goes one-on-one with Shaun Deeb, who accepted a $800,000 buyout in his $1 million body fat prop bet against Bill Perkins.

Nearly 11 months ago, the poker players agreed to a 14-month wager on Deeb's ability to bring his body fat composition down significantly. The bet had essentially no stipulations — either get to 17% body fat by the start of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP), or lose $100,000.

Last month, Deeb gave his X followers an update on his progress, and it was certainly positive in his favor. A January 25 Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan showed his body fat had dropped to 23.9% with still four months to go. That caused Perkins to begin proposing potential buyout possibilities on X, although nothing had been officially agreed upon.

Shaun Deeb Accepts Buyout in $1 Million Body Fat Loss Prop Bet

On Friday, he went in for another DEXA scan, and he was in even better shape — 22.0% body fat composition. Then, on Saturday, the future Poker Hall of Famer informed his social media followers that Perkins had bought out of the bet for $800,000 just over three months from the start of the 2024 WSOP.

Deeb shared all the details of his journey, why he opted to accept the buyout, and where he plans to go from here. Plus, hear his thoughts on the 2024 WSOP schedule.

Jorgne Wins Final Pot Before Dinner

Livello 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Peter Jorgne raised to 240,000 from early position with AQ and Ami Barer came along in the cutoff with AK. The rest of the table went on their dinner break and a 422 flop was fanned.

Jorgne continued for 300,000 and a call followed from Barer. The Q turn then paired up Jorgne but gave Barer a flush draw.

Jorgne slid 575,000 chips more into the middle, and Barer stuck around with a call. The 3 river completed the board and Jorgne completed his triple barrel with a bet of 775,000.

Barer spent two time bank cards before finally letting his cards go and heading off to a belated dinner.

Arduini Battles Versus Chipleader

Livello 30 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Lorenzo Arduini raised to 250,000 from middle position with A9 and the action folded to David Kaufmann in the big blind, who defended his 88.

The flop fell 410K and Kaufmann checked to Arduini, who made a bet of 150,000. Kaufmann was undeterred and made the call, however.

The 5 turn saw Arduini fire a second barrel of 600,000, and this time it was enough to make Kaufmann lay his hand down.
