It's the penultimate day of the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour €5,300 Main Event, and 18 hopefuls are set to return to Les Palais des Congres as they continue their path to the title, trophy and €1,287,800 that awaits the winner.
The action kicks off at 12 p.m. CET, with play expected to close when the tournament reaches its final six players. Best placed to make it through to tomorrow's finale is original Hendon Mob member Barny Boatman (7,620,000 - 127 BBs).
Along with the impressive bluff featured above, the British veteran pulled off one of the hero calls of the tournament late on in Day 4 to soar to the top counts at the expense of three-time WPT champion Eric Afriat (1,225,000 - 20 BBs).
Boatman's closest rival is the formiddable Farid Jattin (5,660,000 - 94 BBs). The Colombian has 14 tournament triumphs across his career and is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous players still in contention. With the skills, expertise and stack to match, Jattin is certainly among the favorites to go all the way.
Rounding out the podium is Norwegian poker player Sindre Hansen (5,115,000 - 85 BBs), who, according to The Hendon Mob, has total live earnings of just $6,434. Hansen put himself in the upper echelons of the chip leaderboard after being on the right side of a preflop cooler (aces vs kings) against Mathias Siljander (2,275,000 - 38 BBs).
Dimitar Danchev (2,100,000 - 35 BBs) remains as the only previous EPT Main Event winner while David Kaufmann (3,210,000 - 54 BBs) is the only other player to have a PokerStars major victory on their poker resume. He took down the 2013 WCOOP $5,200 Main Event for a $1,493,499 score and comes into the day sixth in chips.
One of the big stories of the week has been the impressive run of last year's runner-up Peter Jorgne (2,320,000 - 39 BBs). He'll be coming into Day 5 in the top ten chip counts as he looks to complete back-to-back final table appearances.
