Khalaf Scores Double Off Denick

Andrew Denick opened to 2,500 from the cutoff and both Hanna Khalaf on the button and Brandon Shack-Harris in the big blind made the call.

The flop came 8♠8♦7♦ and Shack-Harris checked to Denick who continued for 3,000, which only Khalaf called. On the 9♥ turn Denick checked to Khalaf who moved all in for 12,600 and Denick called with a bigger stack.

Khalaf was out front with a turned straight but would need to dodge the outs for Denick who flopped trips. The river fell the 9♣ and the straight held up for Khalaf to score a full double up to just over starting stack.

In a pot of close to 40,000 on a board showing J♥10♠5♣Q♦, Lautaro Guerra fired out 16,000 from the small blind and his opponent in the cutoff made the call.

The 6♥ completed the board and Guerra slid out a bet of 35,000. The cutoff went deep in the tank, contemplating for several minutes. After apologizing to the table for taking so long, the cutoff eventually folded and Guerra was awarded the pot.

"You had me sweating," joked Guerra as he took off his hat to pretend wipe his forehead from the long tank.

Deeb Has a Quick Exit

Deeb was ahead with top pair but Barousse had a pair and the nut flush draw.

The turn brought a 8♠ giving Deeb two pair but the river was the A♦ giving Barousse a better two pair and sending the player-of-the-year hopeful to the rail.

Late registration is still open and this may not be the end of Deeb in this event.

Speiser Flops Quads In Four-Bet Pot

Yuri Dzivielevski opened to 2,500 from the hijack and the player on the button made the call. Hannes Speiser put in a three-bet to 11,000 in the small blind and action was back on Dzivielevski who four-bet to 36,500. The button got out of the way and Speiser came along.

The flop fanned out K♣K♥J♣ and Speiser checked to Dzivielevski who tossed out 25,000. Speiser snap called for his last 21,400 and the cards were shown.

Speiser flopped quad kings and had the hand locked up. The 3♦7♣ completed the board and Speiser scored the full double up off Dzivielevski.

The big blind looked reluctant to show but eventually turned over 8♠9♣5♣5♦ for the double blockers to the nuts on the flop. Brown rolled over 6♣6♦5♥3♣ for a flopped wheel.
