Gannon On the Rise

Livello 6 : Blinds 300/600, 900 ante

After suffering a rough start to the day, Liam Gannon has managed to mount a rapid comeback that sees him sit amongst the chipleaders in the room. Gannon opened to 2,100 from under the gun and was called by a player in middle position.

On the draw Gannon took two cards while his opponent opted for one. Gannon then checked before raising to 11,700 after the middle position player bet 2,500. After some thought, his opponent made the call but mucked after Gannon turned over 7x5x4x3x2x for the nuts.

Deeb Tells a Story

Livello 6 : Blinds 300/600, 900 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

As Shaun Deeb collected the blinds after a successful raise from the button, he continued telling a 2-7 story from earlier in the event.

"So I pat with ten-eight, and he pats back. I check, he bets 10,000, and I look at him and say, 'You must have an eight,' and I fold. He says, 'Yes I have an eight and shows 8x4x3x2xAx. He played well the rest of the time, so I honestly don't know if he misread his hand, thought aces were low, or if he was snowing me."

Negreanu Gone

Livello 6 : Blinds 300/600, 900 ante

Daniel Negreanu opened to 1,900 from under the gun and was called by a player in the cutoff. The button then moved all in for 4,500, getting calls from Negreanu and the cutoff.

Both Negreanu and the at risk player took one while the cutoff opted to stand pat. Action went check-check and the button showed down 9x7x5x3x2x to secure a triple up, leaving Negreanu with just 2,500.

On the next hand, a player in the cutoff opened to 1,800, receiving calls from the button, small blind and Negreanu in the big blind, who was all in for less.

The small blind and button both took one with Negreanu and the cutoff declining to draw. Action checked to the cutoff who bet 3,200, getting a call from the small blind and a fold from the button. The cutoff then turned over 10x8x6x3x2x and Negreanu, holding 10x8x7x6x4x, was forced to the exits.

Ogura's Got the Goods

Livello 6 : Blinds 300/600, 900 ante

Patrick Mulder raised 2,500 from under the gun and was called by Takashi Ogura in the cutoff.

Mulder waved his hand over his cards, and Ogura passed one of his to the dealer.

Mulder led out for 3,000 and Ogura called a second time. Mulder flipped over 10x8x5x3x2x, which was not enough to beat Ogura's 9x7x6x4x3x.

Defending Champ Coleman Building a Stack

Livello 5 : 300/500, 800 ante

Rahul Karpy raised 1,500 from under the gun, Krisd Gabrialian three-bet to 4,500 from middle position, cutoff Maxx Coleman cold called, and Karpy threw in the extra 3,000.

Karpy drew one, and both Gabrialian and Coleman stood pat. Action checked to Coleman who continued for 6,000.

Karpy folded, and Gabrialian resignedly called. Coleman tabled 7x6x4x3x2x and Gabrialian mucked with a glance at his dwindling stack. "Thank god I paired," said Karpy. "I was drawing to an eight-six, I didn't know I was drawing dead."

Gabrialian would recoup some of his losses on the next hand when his nine-eight bested an opponent's ten-eight.

Gannon Doubles Through Gerhart

Livello 5 : Blinds 300/500, 800 ante

Kevin Gerhart opened to 1,300 from middle position only to see Liam Gannon push his entire stack of 13,100 across the line from late position. Action folded back around to Gerhart who made the call.

Both players took one card after which Gerhart tabled 7x6x3x2x while Gannon held 5x4x3x2x. Gehart managed to find a 9x on the end to leave Gannon needing to find a seven, eight, or nine to survive. Luckily for him, Gannon was able to peel the 9x to make a better nine and score the double up.

Ribeiro Felts Opponent

Livello 5 : Blinds 300/500, 800 ante

Adam Friedman opened to 1,300 from middle position before Anthony Ribeiro three-bet to 3,100 on the button. A player in the big blind then moved all in for around 13,000, getting a fold from Friedman but a call from Ribeiro.

The big blind took one while Ribeiro stood pat holding Jx8x7x5x3x. Tabling 7x6x4x2x, the big blind would need to catch a three, five, eight, nine, ten or jack to double and survive but instead peeled the 4x to pair up and bring his tournament to an end.

Livello 5 : Blinds 300/500, 800 ante

Michael Brown raised to 2,000 from the button and Richard Ashby called from the small blind.

Ashby, the third-place finisher in the 2011 $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship, drew one, as did Brown.

Checking out his new spread, Brown led out for 2,500 and Ashby called.

"A jack," called out Ashby.

"Me too," said Brown. They spread their hands and Brown's eight kicker beat Ashby's nine.
