The board ran out and Rich was forced to double his opponent up.
On a flop of , Garry "Beast Mode" Gates led out for 24,000 and received a call from Michael Castaldo. When the dealer then burned and turned the , Gates bet 52,000, Castaldo called, and the was put out on the river.
Gates thought for a brief moment before putting out a bet of 105,000. Castaldo conceded the hand by tossing his cards to the muck. Gates is off to a good start here on Day 5 having already chipped up to 920,000.
We walked by Amanda Musumeci's table and saw that she was facing a three bet of 65,000 from her opponent in the big blind, Daniel Retallick. Musumeci made the call from the button, and the two went heads up to a flop of . Retallick made a continuation bet of 68,000, and Musumeci thought for about 20 seconds before putting the call in. The dealer pulled the chips in, and as the ESPN cameras began to gather around, the hit the turn.
Retallick kept his foot on the gas, as he assembled a bet of 151,000, and slid it into the middle. Musumeci took little time in calling, sliding out a stack orange T5000 chips to make the call. The river was the , which figured to either be an action card or an action killer. It turned out to be the latter, as Retallick checked after about 20 seconds of thought, and Musumeci instantly checked behind. Retallick didn't want to show his hand, and Musumeci tabled . Retallick mucked his hand, but the dealer accidentally exposed his hand, eight high, briefly. The dealer quickly turned it back over, but not before giving valuable information to the rest of the players at the table.
Sergey Tikhonov moved all in preflop for his last 135,000 and was called by Fernando Brito.
Showdown
Tikhonov:
Brito:
Tikhonov was at risk and essentially flipping for his life. He was looking for some help, and the flop delivered just that. Suddenly Tikhonov was out in the lead with trips and looking to dodge either a ten or running straight cards. The changed nothing, and neither did the river.
Tikhonov doubled to 320,000 on the hand while Brito was left with just 97,000.
We caught up with the action heads up on a flop where Philipp Haertl in the big blind check-called a bet of 20,000 from Sergey Tikhonov on the button. Both players checked the on the turn and Haertl was the one to bet when the hit the end for 36,000. Tikhonov raised it up to 110,000 and Haertl went into the tank before he made the call. Tikhonov turned over for a stone-cold bluff with jack high. Haertl revealed for a missed flush draw on the flop that turned into queens up which was good to take down the pot.
Hayden Fortini opened with a raise to 23,000 from the cutoff seat, and Jean-Robert Bellande defended his big blind. The flop came and both players checked. The turn brought the and another check from Bellande. Fortini bet 27,000 this time, and Bellande promptly check-raised to 85,000. Fortini called.
The river brought the . Bellande set out a column of orange chips -- a bet of 120,000 -- and Fortini went into the tank. He tumbled chips in his hand while Bellande sat silently, the brim of his cap pulled down to cover his eyes.
Finally, after a couple of minutes, Fortini made the call. Bellande flipped over his cards, showing for two pair, and Fortini mucked.
Bellande bumps back up to 1.152 million, while Fortini falls to 112,000.
With a board reading , Timothy Adams was all in for 514,000 with the laid out in front of him. Bryan Devonshire was paying him off with the inferior . We're not sure of the details, but it looked as if the money either got in preflop or on the flop and the river delivered Adams an ace to stay alive.
Eli Elezra raised to 25,000 from under the gun and received a call from Ben Tollerene in middle position before Tyler Bonkowski three-bet to 77,000 in the cutoff. Elezra and Tollerene both called as the three saw a flop that was checked around. Everyone checked the on the turn as well until Elezra led out for 84,000 when the hit the river. Tollerene folded while Bonkowski took some time before he folded too and Elezra took down the pot.
Krisopher Bradshaw raised to 20,000 from the hijack only to have Frank Cerminara move all in from the big blind. Bradshaw, who only had around 60,000, called all in and was the player at risk.
