Musumeci Making Some Ground

Amanda Musumeci
Amanda Musumeci

We walked by Amanda Musumeci's table and saw that she was facing a three bet of 65,000 from her opponent in the big blind, Daniel Retallick. Musumeci made the call from the button, and the two went heads up to a flop of {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Retallick made a continuation bet of 68,000, and Musumeci thought for about 20 seconds before putting the call in. The dealer pulled the chips in, and as the ESPN cameras began to gather around, the {q-Diamonds} hit the turn.

Retallick kept his foot on the gas, as he assembled a bet of 151,000, and slid it into the middle. Musumeci took little time in calling, sliding out a stack orange T5000 chips to make the call. The river was the {j-Diamonds}, which figured to either be an action card or an action killer. It turned out to be the latter, as Retallick checked after about 20 seconds of thought, and Musumeci instantly checked behind. Retallick didn't want to show his hand, and Musumeci tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Retallick mucked his hand, but the dealer accidentally exposed his hand, eight high, briefly. The dealer quickly turned it back over, but not before giving valuable information to the rest of the players at the table.
