Nines Are Good For Akenhead

After a preflop raise, James Akenhead saw a flop with two other players. The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and Akenhead checked. The preflop raiser bet 625 and found one player send their cards into the muck while Akenhead made the call.

The turn came {6-Clubs} and the action went check-check. The {5-Hearts} rivered and both players checked once more.

"Ace-high", Akenheads opponent said.

Akenhead flipped over {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} and was able to drag in the pot.

Flush For Smith

Livello 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

On a board of {6-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}, Gavin Smith fired out a bet of 1,650 into his opponent. His opponent quickly called and Smith tabled {9-Spades}{4-Spades} for a rivered spade flush. Smith scooped the pot while having the knee of a massage therapist pushed into his back.

Smith is currently sitting with around 14,000.

Ike Likes Spades

Livello 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We came upon a hand between Isaac Haxton and Ludovic Lacay on the river, at which the board showed {7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} and there was around 5,000 in the middle. Haxton checked, and Lacay pushed out a bet of 3,750. Haxton studied for a beat, then stacked up and set out a column of 7,325 chips, leaving himself just over 1,000 behind.

Lacay sat back in his chair and smilingly expressed frustration at Haxton's play. "Sick," said Lacay, still grinning and shaking his head. Finally after a minute he made the call, and Haxton quickly flipped over {A-Spades}{7-Spades} for the nut flush. Lacay nodded and mucked.

Lacay still has about 22,000, while that pot takes Haxton up to about 21,000 himself.

Livello 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Jonathan Aguiar and Barry Shulman saw a flop of {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Aguiar led out for a bet of 650. Shulman quickly put enough chips in the pot for a call and we were off to the turn.

O'Brien Flops It

Livello 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Dan O'Brien was down to just 3,000 in chips but is now slowly building his stack back up. O'Brien limped under the gun with three other players in the pot.

The flop ran out {q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and the player in the big blind checked. O'Brien bet 200 and the action folded around back to the player in the big blind who called. The {5-Spades} hit on the turn and the player in the big blind checked. O'Brien bet 550 and his opponent called.

The river brought the {8-Diamonds} and after it was checked to him, O'Brien bet 2,000. His opponent called and O'Brien turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} to take down the pot.

Fashionably Late

Livello 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Chino Rheem, Freddy Deeb, Daniel Negreanu, John Hennigan, Eugene Katchalov, Carlos Mortensen, Tommy Vedes, Layne Flack, and Men Nguyen have all just sat down in the Yellow Section of the Pavilion Room. Rheem, Deeb and Flack are all on Table 102, and were held up because they didn't have a button.

"FLOOR!" Flack shouted at the top of his lungs. "WE NEED A BUTTON!!!"

"We should just use a golf ball," Deeb joked.

A floorperson eventually provided them with a dealer button, and the cards were finally in the air.

We lost Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis just before the break. However, more players continue to arrive. The big board is showing that 654 have entered thus far, and that number should continue to climb over the next two hours until registration closes after Level 4.
