Compton Crushed By Wolfe's Boat

Livello 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

We saw Steve Wolfe and Mark Compton assuming the usual all-in positions, standing and waiting for the dealer to determine a winner.

Showdown:

Wolfe: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Compton: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Wolfe's aces were far in the lead but as we have seen before, Omaha can be a cruel mistress when it comes to made hands. The flop came {4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts} and suddenly Wolfe didn't need his aces, as he was now playing two pair, eights and nines.

The {10-Clubs} on the turn muddled things further by giving Compton a better two pair with tens and eights, but Wolfe added the nut flush draw to his arsenal. He could now win with the case ace for trips, the case eight or a nine for a full house, or any club for a flush.

River: {9-Spades}

Wolfe found an out on the river and his full house was good for the win. Compton was eliminated in 27th place, earning $8,848 for his efforts today.

Kibrit Delivers

After everyone folded it was left to the blinds to battle it out. Rafe Kibrit called the small blind and was raised by the Matthew Maggard in the big blind. Kibrit made the call and we got to see a flop.

{A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} all made an appearance on the flop, and after a series of betting Maggard was all in for his tournament life.

Maggard: {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Kibrit: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{J-Spades}{10-}

The turn-river came {10-Hearts}{2-} and Kibrit was awarded the pot with his winning two pair.

Welch Flops the World, Makes Straight to Bust Thoennes

Livello 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Mark Thoennes pushed all-in for his last 37,000 and was called by Ryan Welch and another player. The flop fell {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and Welch bet into the dry side pot, signifying he had hit the flop hard. The third player dropped out and Welch tabled the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades} for an open ended straight flush draw, among other additional draws. Thoennes showed the {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of fives and a gutshot straight draw.

The turn of {4-} was of no help to either player, but the {8-Clubs} on the river made Welch's straight and Thoennes was eliminated in 22nd place and earned $8,848 for his work.

T.K. Miles Taken Out

Livello 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

We missed the action but T.K. Miles was eliminated in 21st place for a cash of $8,848. The action has been moving at a fast and furious pace here since moving to three-table play, with calls of "all-in" and "call" being heard simultaneously at all three tables.

Vilkki Vanquishes Lee

Livello 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Anthony Lee moved all-in for his last 13,000 chips and two other players made the call. Juha Vilkki was looking to isolate the action, however, and reraised to 75,000. The power play worked and the two callers released their hands. Lee showed down the {K-Hearts}{k-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Vilkki tabled {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-}{5-}.

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Vilkki's trip deuces were enough to eliminate Lee in 20th place. He will take home $8,848 for his run through this 1,000+ player field.

Clock

Livello 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

We only have three tables left and are waiting for one more player to drop before we can redraw for 18. Emil Patel does not seem to be happy with one of the other players at his table, Elie Payan. Patel accused Payan of repeatedly taking longer than the needed time in an effort to stall to the final 18.

Payan Punishes Peelen

Livello 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Frank Peelen raised to 16,000 from the button and Elie "Punisher934" Payan raised the pot from the small blind, making it 56,000 to go. Peelen called and the flop fell {3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Payan instantly moved in for his last 24,000 and Peelen stared him down before calling with the {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for top pair.

Payan held {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a apir of aces and a flush draw and Peelen was in bad shape. The turn and river came {5-Clubs} and {3-Spades} respectively and Payan's aces held up in this duel between two players who have already exchanged bitter words at points in this tournament.
