France’s Julien Sitbon Wins First Gold Bracelet in WSOP Online Event #18: $2,000 Freezeout Championship

On July 15, Event #18: $2,000 Freezeout Championship played out on the virtual felt on WSOP.com for players located in New Jersey and Nevada. At the end of it, French player Julien Sitbon won his first WSOP bracelet and claimed the top prize of $176,347.

The tournament attracted a total of 551 entries and generated a prize pool of $1,019,350 paid out to the top 96 finishers.

Among the players who made deep runs but fell short of the final table were Daniel "DNegs" Negreanu (12th - $11,722), Thomas "HavanaClub" Boivin (17th - $7,033), Ben "WhyIsGamora" Yu (23rd - $5,402), and Aram "whatitdew" Oganyan.

Sitbon navigated a final table that included Portugal’s Luis "faryboy" Pinho De Faria, 2018 WSOP Main Event runner-up Tony "FreddyFish" Miles, and 2018 WSOP Main Event sixth-place finisher Aram "X69Podheiser" Zobian. Eventually, the Frenchman defeated India’s Ashish "WhiskeySoda" Ahuja in heads-up play to claim the title.

Sitbon came close to his first piece of WSOP hardware only a few weeks earlier when he finished runner-up to Robert Schulz at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas in Event #59: $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em. Sitbon won $417,338 for his biggest-ever cash in that tournament and has now continued his good fortune this summer with another six-figure score and his maiden bracelet.
