Stein Cracks Shulman's Aces

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Sam Stein opened to 5,500 from the hijack and was called by Barry Shulman in the cutoff.

Stein bet 7,000 on the J57 flop and Shulman raised to 17,000. Stein called.

The 6 fell on the turn and Stein checked to Shulman, who bet 34,000. Stein then shoved for his remaining stack and Shulman called to put Stein at risk.

Sam Stein: 77
Barry Shulman: AA

Stein had flopped a set and was in great shape to double up against Shulman's aces.

The 5 river was of no help to Shulman and Stein doubled up while leaving Shulman short.

Reardon Shows a Six

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

On a heads-up completed board of 47K810, Trevor Reardon lead out for 26,500 into the pot of 30,500 and Daniel Susigan went into the tank.

After what seemed like an eternity, Susigan tossed in his cards only for Reardon to show him the 6 as he raked in the pot, which got a rise from the table.

Three in a Row for Galfond

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Farah Galfond
Farah Galfond

A player in the cutoff opened to 6,000 and received a call from Farah Galfond on the button.

Both players checked the J62 flop, leading to the Q turn. The cutoff checked and Galfond bet 13,000 to force a fold from her opponent.

The next hand at the same table saw a player from middle position open to 5,500. Galfond called from the cutoff and another player called from the button.

All three players checked the 627 flop, which led to the 3 turn. The original raiser checked, Galfond bet 15,000, the button called and the original raiser from middle position opted to fold.

Both players checked the 7 river. Galfond tabled 33 for a full house and her opponent quickly mucked his cards.

The next hand saw a player from middle position open to 5,500 and receive calls from Galfond on the hijack and a player in the big blind.

Action checked around to Galfond who bet 5,500 on the 732 flop. The original raiser folded and the hijack made the call.

Both players checked through the 4 turn and A river.

Galfond tabled 55 for the winner to take down her third consecutive pot.

Kuzmich Forces Gross Fold

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

On a heads-up flop of 824, Michael Grossman bet 6,000 into the pot but was then raised to 27,000 by Paul Kuzmich.

Grossman made the call and the two went to the turn J which Grossman checked.

Kuzmich then moved all in, covering Grossman.

"Wow, what a turn," Grossman said as he folded QQ face-up, much to the table's surprise.

"You made a good fold," Kuzmich told him, but the world will never know.

The Muck: Was the WSOP Main Event Payout Structure Absurd?

Livello 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
2023 WSOP Main Event
2023 WSOP Main Event

It doesn't happen often, and probably won't again for quite some time, but poker Twitter found something to agree on — the confusing 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event payout structure.

Registration closed at the conclusion of Level 7 on Day 2d Saturday with a record 10,043 entrants, easily surpassing the previous record of 8,773 in 2006, the year Jamie Gold won it. The $93.4 million prize pool is also the largest in live tournament poker history, a clear sign that poker is booming. So, how could anyone possibly be upset?
