Around his neck, Justin Young is wearing his WSOP credential from... 2004! Seated under the picture of this year's edition Greg Raymer, Young is currently playing his 20th Main Event.
He is doing great so far with 95,000 chips. But his stack just decreased after he opened to 1,200 from middle position. On his left, Steven Stout three-bet to 3,200, and Young was the only one to call.
On 5♠8♥6♣, Stout continued to 3,500. But Young decided to check-raise to 11,000. An amount that Stout called.
The 6♦ landed on the turn, and Young bet 25,000. With only 17,000 chips remaining, Stout was struggling, but he eventually made the call.
Steven Stout: Q♣Q♥
Justin Young: 8♠7♠
Stout's queens held on the river 5♦, and he doubled up. On the other hand, Young is down to 65,000.

The action was picked up in a three-way pot where the board read 9♦9♥5♣. The small blind checked and Joshua Field checked in the big blind. Action was on late position who put out a bet of 2,000. The small blind called and Field then opted to put in a check-raise to 6,500. Late position called and the small blind called.
The turn brought a J♣ and action surprisingly checked through. The river was a A♣ and action once again checked to late position who thought for about a minute before putting in an overbet to the tune of 22,800. The small blind folded and Field went into the tank.
After about two minutes Field flicked in a chip. The late position player said "I have a flush" and tabled 4♣3♣. Field quickly tabled J♦9♠ for flopped trips and a turned full house. Field would drag a healthy pot to chip up in Day 1.

Niall Farrell was heads-up from the big blind against Ryan Riess in middle position on a completed board of 3♠5♥6♥9♦6♣.
Farrell bet 4,000 into a pot containing about 5,000 and Riess looked him up.
Farrell tabled 8♥7♣ for a straight and Riess mucked — awarding the pot to Farrell.

On board reading 7♠8♠6♣5♥, David Short made a bet of around 8,000 from late position — and was called by Yannick Schumacher in the big blind.
The river came a 9♣ and both players checked. Short turned over K♥K♣, Schumacher showed A♠A♥, and both players expressed relief, seemingly happy to have chopped the pot.

On a heads-up turn at table 553, Noah Schwartz and Anthony Reategui were battling it out once again on a board that read 8♠10♦5♣A♥.
Reategui had led out for 6,000 and Schwartz made the call to see the 10♣ on the river.
"Rainbow!" Reategui announced as he tossed out one chip of each denomination (1 green, 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 purple, 1 black), totaling 31,600.
Schwartz then went deep into the tank, visibly distraught.
"Ughh, it's just been one of those days," he sighed, "I float for the ace and I hit and I just get the worst river... I would call but the bet is so huge..."
After a minute or so of this, he finally tossed his cards in and the pot was pushed over to Reategui.
"Which ten would you like to see?" he asked Schwartz
"No chance!" Another player said, highly skeptical that Reategui could possibly have quads. But sure enough, he then flipped over 10♠10♥ for the stone-cold nuts and Schwartz was just left shaking his head.
"Wow, now I'm freerolling, that second ten saved me money. I was drawing dead the whole way!"

Mustapha Kanit opened to 1,100 from early position and a player in the small blind three-bet to 4,100. Kanit made the call.
The flop came 10♥3♥4♦. The small blind bet 5,500, receiving a call from Kanit.
The small blind slowed down with a check on the 10♦ turn. Perhaps sensing weakness, Kanit fired a bet of 10,700, quickly eliciting a fold from his opponent.

A player in middle position limped only to see a raise to 1,500 come from the cutoff. Sreekanth Nistala called from the big blind as did the middle position limper to see a 7♦5♥3♦ flop.
Action checked through to the K♠ turn and Nistala checked again. The player in middle position bet out 6,000 and both the cutoff and Nistala tossed in a call and all three headed to the 5♣ river.
Nistala led out with a bet of 10,000 and got folds from both his opponents, winning the pot without showdown.

The A♠10♣2♥J♠7♣ board was out there and Espen Jorstad bet 7,500 into Girish Reknar. Reknar, who made a final table earlier this summer, called it off after some thought.
Jorstad rolled over 5♥3♥ — nearly the nut low — in such a confident way that Reknar had to do a double take before revealing his 10♦9♦. His third pair was good, though, and he celebrated it with a slightly exaggerated fist pump to which Jorstad could only smile.
