Newman Scores a Double

Paul Newman shoved 15,500 in early position and the cutoff pushed his entire stack across the line as well. The action folded to the big blind, who asked for a count. After being told it was 30,500, he thought about it for about a minute before letting his cards go, claiming to have folded Q♦J♦.

It was a coinflip as the flop came 10♦6♣2♦, for Newman to take the lead.

"Come on dealer," cried the cutoff.

The board completed with the K♦ turn, and the 3♠ river for Newman to pull in the double-up. Meanwhile, the big blind was kicking himself for folding what would have been a flush.

The 9♥ hit the turn and Kwan instantly fired a bet of 28,000. This time, Simpson took about 15 seconds before making the call.

A player raised in early position and there was one caller before Nathanael Kogel joined the pote in the small blind. The big blind then shoved for 31,800 and the action folded back to Kogel in the small blind. He took about a minute before deciding to call, and both hands were on their backs.

"Ah, I was just trying to squeeze the dead money," the big blind said as the cards were turned.

The dealer spread a flop of J♣9♦4♠, giving the big blind an open-ended straight draw.

"Yes! A sweat," Kogel yelled.

The 2♥ turn and 4♥ river changed nothing though, sending Kogel's opponent to the rail.
