Mather Survives the Bubble in Roller Coaster Hand
Action was stalled during hand-for-hand play and once the dealer got the ok to run the cards out, Bob Mather was all-in on the button for 83,000 against a player in the small blind who announced that there would be a seven on the flop.
The floor then instructed the players to reveal their cards.
Bob Mather: A♠A♥
Small Blind Player: 7♠7♦
A seven was indeed needed in order to bust the bubble and the premonition would be fulfilled, as the dealer produced the 7♣ in the door on a 10♥3♦7♣ flop, eliciting an eruption from the room.
However, the player in the small blind could apparently only see so far into the future as the A♣ fell on the turn, launching Mather back into the lead and resulting in another burst of hollers from the field of players.
Mather would lock in the win on the 2♥ river, and get the double. Surviving to see another hand.
