Shlez Cracks Aces for Large Pot

Livello 31 : Limits 120,000/240,000, 0 ante

Vadim Shlez and John Armbrust were involved in one of the biggest pots of Day 3.

Armbrust raised in early position with AA, and then was re-raised by Shlez, who held KQ in late position. Armbrust responded with a re-raise, which Shlez called to put 1,140,000 in the pot.

The flop brought 57K, which Armbrust bet and Shlez called. The turn showed Q and fireworks after Armbrust bet. Shlez raised with top two pair, and Armbrust called.

The river showed 3, and Armbrust checked. Shlez, though, fired a bet. Armbrust called and saw the bad news, as the dealer pushed the massive 2,820,000 pot to Shlez.

Vangchailued Doubles Through Shlez

Livello 30 : Limits 100,000/200,000, 0 ante

Action folded to Chairud Vangchailued in the small blind who raised with AK and was called by Vadim Shlez in the big blind holding K7.

The flop came down 4KA and both players checked through to see the J fall on the turn. Vangchailud led into Shlez who raised to put Vangchailued all in.

Vangchailud called off the rest of his stack and both players turned up their cards to find that Shlez was drawing dead.

The dealer burned and turned the inconsequential 6 and Vangchailud got a full double up.

Baker Hits Straight To Survive

Livello 30 : Limits 100,000/200,000, 0 ante

David “ODB” Baker found himself all in as the short stack on the big blind.

Action folded to Raul Celaya in late position and he called with J7. The button folded, and John Armbrust raised after looking down at AK. With Baker already all in, the action returned to Celaya, who called.

The flop brought 10K6. Armbrust bet, forcing Celaya out of the hand

Baker tabled QJ for an open-ended straight draw against Armbrust’s top pair. The turn provided A, giving Baker the straight and Armbrust top two pair.

Baker needed to dodge Armbrust pairing either of his cards on the river, and he survived when 2 hit the board.
