Phil Ivey could make history Thursday at the $50,000 Poker Players Championship if he were to take down the bracelet, which would be his first title at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) since 2014.

The widely accepted poker G.O.A.T. is one of three players — Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson are the others — tied for second all-time with 10 WSOP bracelets. Phil Hellmuth, with 16 titles, is the record holder. But there could be just one player sitting in second place within the next 24 hours.

Thornton Takes From Shoreman

Livello 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

John Thornton raised to 1,600 from middle position and was called by Jon Shoreman and a player in the big blind.

The flop fell 934. Thornton fired again for 2,300. Shoreman called and the big blind folded.

The turn was the 5 and Thornton bet a third time. Again, Shoreman called.

The 10 came on the river and was checked by both players. Thornton turned over K9 and Shoreman mucked.

As he stacked his chips, Thornton asked, "Can you say 'Hi Honey — on the blog — to my wife?" Consider it done.

Set Over Set For Singer

Livello 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

The action was picked up on a board of J629, with Adam Singer in middle position calling the raise of a late position player who had just jammed. The cards hit their back and Singer's opponent saw the bad news.

All-in Player: 22
Adam Singer: 66

Both players made a boat on the 9 river but it would be Singer who was the recipient of the chips in this cooler.

After the hand Singer told PokerNews that the flop action went bet, raise, call. He then led on the turn and his opponent went all-in.

Cutler Turns the Nuts

Livello 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Action folded to Chicago native Alan Cutler in late position who opened to 1,500. Next to act went all-in for 4,200. The button then raised to 9,000 and it folded back to Cutler. He didn't take long before announcing "all-in" and pushing his chips out.

The player on the button took a minute but ultimately folded. The cards hit their back.

All-in Player: KQ
Alan Cutler: AK

"I'll take an ace," Cutler remarked as the dealer laid out the Q107 flop. "Now I need a Jack!" and right on time, the dealer put out the J giving Cutler the nuts. The 9 landed on the river and Cutler would send his opponent to the rail.
