Ben Yu: 3x2x / 4x5xJxQx / 4x
Josh Arieh: 3x4x / 7x4x5x2x / Xx
The boards were already exposed as Ben Yu was the player at risk against Josh Arieh. Yu was drawing live on fifth street despite Arieh catching a decent runout but another high card and pair on sixth and seventh street respectively sent Yu to the rail.
Marco Johnson: J♥7♥4♠/7♦8♣2♥2♣
Phil Hellmuth: Xx10♠10♣/5♣Q♣A♦J♦
Phil Hellmuth brought it in and Marco Johnson called.
Hellmuth check-called a bet from Johnson on fourth street, then chose to lead fifth street on the A♦. The betting lead reversed once again on sixth street with Hellmuth check-calling a bet from Johnson and Seventh went check-check.
Hellmuth showed down pocket tens but would be behind the two pair of Johnson.
In the next hand, action picked up with Hellmuth putting out a bet on seventh street against Daniel Alaei and Alaei coming in with the raise. Hellmuth would deliberate for some time before making the call.
Phil Hellmuth: XxXxXx/3♦7♦6♣7♠
Daniel Alaei: Q♠10♥9♦/9♠7♥Q♣5♥
Alaei announced, "full house" and Hellmuth mucked face down.
Marco Johnson: XxXx/3♠J♠J♦7♠
Chris Klodnicki: XxXx/2♥5♠2♣10♠ - folded sixth street
Daniel Alaei: XxXx/7♦4♦A♦9♠ - folded sixth street
John Monnette: XxXx/K♠ - folded third street
After Chris Klodnicki brought in with a deuce, new addition to the table John Monnette called, and then Daniel Alaei completed. Marco Johnson then made it two bets to go, then surprisingly Klodnicki made it three from his bring-in. Monnette folded but Alaei and Johnson called.
The remaining three players then checked fourth and fifth streets, but on sixth with a pair of jacks up, Johnson bet and got a pair of folds from his opponents to take the pot.
Freddy Deeb: XxXx / 7♦3♠Q♣Q♦ / Xx
Jeremy Ausmus: 5♠4♠ / 7♠9♠2♥5♦ / K♣
Phil Ivey: J♠J♣ / K♠4♣A♠A♥ / 2♦
Paul Volpe: XxXx / J♦7♣K♦9♥ / Xx
Paul Volpe was all-in as of fourth street with a short stack and three players remained in action. Phil Ivey was the aggressor when he bet fifth and sixth street, by which Jeremy Ausmus was also all-in as well. Freddy Deeb called the full bets of Ivey to open up a second side pot before the two active players then checked down seventh street.
Deeb flashed the 10♣6♦3♦ for queens and treys while Ausmus flashed K♣5♠4♠ for a pair of fives and missed flush draw. Ivey had the J♠J♣2♦ for aces and jacks to beat Deeb for the larger side pot and knock out Ausmus.
Volpe then revealed his Q♥10♥9♦ as he had gotten there with a king-high straight to survive.
Kristopher Tong: XxXx / K♠X♠7♠7♥ / Xx
John Racener: XxXx / Q♥4♥J♣8♣ / Xx
Kristopher Tong took on a heads-up pot with John Racener and bet sixth street when he made an open pair of sevens. He also bet seventh for Racener to call and flipped over the A♣7♦5♣ for trip sevens to win the pot.
Picking up the action after the flop, Josh Arieh in the small blind was involved in a hand with Lyle Berman on the button. With the board reading K♥2♣10♥, Arieh led out for 60,000 only to see Berman raise to 200,000. Arieh responded by coming back over the top for 400,000. After some thought, Berman moved the rest of his stack into the middle and was quickly called by Arieh, who had the covering stack.
Lyle Berman: 10♣10♦
Josh Arieh: K♦K♠
Berman was on the wrong end of a brutal cooler and would need to get extremely lucky to survive. No help came on the 8♠ turn, with the A♦ river putting the final nail in the coffin for Berman and sending a massive pot over toward Arieh.
A preflop raising war brought the chips into the middle between Hal Rotholz and Paul Volpe, with both players revealing premium pocket pairs.
Hal Rotholz: K♦K♠
Paul Volpe: J♣J♠
Rotholz was the player at risk but could breathe a sigh of relief when the board ran out 9♥2♥2♣7♠Q♠, as he doubled for 511,000 to put a major dent into Volpe's stack.
