Aldemir Wins a Long One

Livello 5 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

On the last hand before the break, Steven Veneziano opened to 23,000 from under the gun and was called by Chance Kornuth in the hijack and Koray Aldemir on the button. Jonathan Jaffe three-bet to 115,000 from the small blind and all three players called.

The flop came J64 and Jaffe continued with a bet of 135,000. Veneziano called, Kornuth stepped aside, and Aldemir also called. The turn was the 5 and Jaffe checked this time. Veneziano tossed in a bet of 135,000 and Aldemir called while Jaffe got out of the way.

The J paired the board on the river and Veneziano splashed in a bet of 550,000. Aldemir used one of his time banks and then pushed all of his chips into the middle, other than 1,000. Veneziano wasted little time before throwing his cards away and Aldemir stacked the pot well into the break.

Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth raised from early position and was three-bet by Chris Brewer from the big blind to 110,000. Kornuth responded by four-betting to 205,000 and Brewer moved all-in, with Kornuth making the call.

Chris Brewer: 1010
Chance Kornuth: AQ

It was a classic flip, but Kornuth would pull ahead immediately in the form of the A on the 7AK flop and would stay ahead on a runout of 5J, for a final board of 10AK5J, sending Brewer to the rail.

Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

Aleksejs Ponakovs bet 325,000 from late position, after being checked to by Kristen Foxen from the small blind on a board reading A82J, with Foxen making the call.

Foxen would check to Ponakovs again on the J river and this time Ponakovs chose a larger bet size in the form of 525,000, putting the pressure on Foxen.

After using up two of her time bank chips, Foxen found the call and would be rewarded as she tabled A10 for two pair, aces and jacks, with Ponakovs turning over Q7 for a queen-high missed flush draw.

Rast Gets an All-In Through; Mateos and Chen Collide in Big Pot

Livello 8 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
James Chen
James Chen

Brian Rast moved all-in for his remaining 400,000 in chips after early and middle position calls from Phil Hellmuth and James Chen. Both would ultimately fold, giving Rast some much-needed chips.

Rast, Hellmuth and Chen would be involved in the next hand, as well, this time with the addition of Adrian Mateos. Mateos raised to 50,000 from early position and was called by Chen in middle position, Rast in late position and Hellmuth in the big blind.

Hellmuth check-folded to a bet of 65,000 from Mateos on a flop of 710A, but both Chen and Rast called.

Mateos continued applying pressure on the 2 in the form of 285,000 and was again called by Chen. Rast folded.

The rolls reversed on the A river, as it would be Chen betting 700,000, nearly enough to put Mateos all-in, after being checked to by Mateos. Mateos quickly folded.
