Shimizu Makes the Wrong Call

Livello 25 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Josh Arieh picked up the QJ and raised from the button. Nozomu Shimizu defended his big blind with the J2.

The flop came JK10 for both of them to hit a pair of jacks but for Arieh to have the higher kicker and open-ended straight draw. Arieh bet, Shimizu check-raised, and Arieh called.

The turn was the K, and Shimizu checked again. Arieh fired a bet out and Shimizu called.

The river completed the board with the 9 for Arieh to hit his straight draw. Shimizu bet, Arieh raised, Shimizu looked at the board, and mumbled through his options. He tanked for a bit longer, got up from his seat, stared at the board for another while, and then reluctantly called to see he was wrong.
