The action folded around to the button who opened to 4,500. Sofiane Bourzec was in the small blind and jammed for 24,300, forcing the big blind out of the pot and the button tossed in a call.
Sofiane Bourzec: A♠K♦
Button: 5♣5♠
It was a classic race and it wasn't looking good for Bourzec as the flop came J♣9♣4♥. The 8♦ turn was no help as well but the K♣ river meant Bourzec was not leaving his seat as he paired his king to take down the pot.
Jerry Yang, the 2007 WSOP Main Event champion, showed his tablemates at the Horseshoe that he will make squeeze plays.
Action folded to a player in the hijack position, and he raised 3,300 before the flop, drawing a call from the player in the cutoff. The button folded, bringing action to Yang, who was in the small blind.
Yang peeked down at his cards, slowly placed a 5,000 chip on his cards, and then three-bet to 10,000. The big blind quickly got out of the way, and the other two players called.
The flop saw 7♠A♣4♦ on the board. Yang briefly paused before betting 30,000, resulting in both opponents folding their hands to Yang’s aggressive pot-sized continuation bet out of position.
Yang then tabled 9♦5♦ as the dealer pushed the 33,200 pot to his seat at table 601, which coincidentally is almost directly underneath his photo hanging on the way commemorating his 2007 Main Event win.
Daryl Boatwright raised to 3,200 in early position and a player in late position jammed for about 43,000. Lily Kiletto was next to act and called off her stack of about 23,000 before Boatwright called off his stack of 21,000.
Daryl Boatwright: A♥3♥
Lily Kiletto: 10♥10♦
Late position: A♦10♠
Kiletto was in great shape until the A♠Q♥9♥ flop paired both players' ace. Boatwright flopped a flush draw to go with his ace and the 8♣ turn, and 8♥ river improved him to the nut flush to triple up as Kiletto hit the rail.
Cero Zuccarello raised on the button and the big blind player called. The flop came out 2♣4♣3♣ and the button placed a continuation bet of 3,500 and the big blind reraised all of his chips for 11,000.
Big blind: A♥9♠
Cero Zuccarello: A♦5♦
The turn 8♦ and the river 10♣ did not change the outcome.
PokerNews had a moment to catch up with Pyzza Teston, who was boasting a massive stack of of 225,000
Teston is a self-proclaimed regular guy who happens to be in some extraordinary circumstances. He travelled here in a stretch limo with a full production team and he's at the point of releasing a series of episodes in a different type of poker Vlog. He's even fixing up one of Allen Kessler's old busted up vehicles.
After winning a couple of tournaments, Teston was presented with the opportunity to do a bankroll challenge where he has $50,000 to play poker with. The caveat is that if he goes broke... he needs to go back to regular life, get a job and rebuild some other way.
Stay tuned to see if Teston makes a deep run at this massive field.
Wanda Rogers limped in middle position and the hijack raised to 2,400. The cutoff, Eric Landen in the big blind, and Rogers all made the call.
The dealer spread a flop of K♥Q♦10♦ and the action checked to the cutoff as she put out a bet of 4,500. Landen check-raised to 10,000 and it was quickly back on the cutoff as everyone else got out of the way. After a moment, the cutoff sighed as she announced all in for about 22,000. Landen quickly called.
Cutoff: 10♠10♥
Eric Landen: A♥J♥
"I have the nuts for now," Landen said as he tabled his hand.
The 2♣ turn and 6♣ river meant he still had the nuts as he faded the board pairing and collected the pot.
