We caught up with this hand right as the cards were being shown down. On a board of the following hands were turned over:
Player 1:
Player 2:
Ed Smith:
Each player in the hand was standing up and staring at the board in awe as hands that they were certain were winners were rendered losing hands. The winner, however, a man by the name of Ed Smith, was thrilled to have his quad sevens scoop a nice sized pot
We caught up with this hand between Joe Sebok and Mike Dunigan on a board of . Sebok led out and the action was five-bet. The fell on the turn and there was a bet by Dunigan and a call by Sebok who tabled . The turn killed Sebok's kings though, as Dunigan flipped for eights full of fours. This hand crippled Sebok, leaving him with 800 in chips.
Two hands later Sebok was all in from his big blind and was called once again by Dunigan.
Sebok:
Dunigan:
The flop shot Sebok out into the lead when it came . The turn was also safe for Sebok as it came a . However, Dunigan managed to drill his two outer going to the river when the was slapped down on the table. Sebok was sent to the rail as Dunigan stacked up the chips.
Daniel Ospina had taken a bit of a hit to his stack after the dinner break, but he's still cruising with 18,500 in chips after taking out another player.
The action folded around to an opponent in middle position who raised preflop; the hijack player reraised, only to see Ospina four-bet from the small blind. The middle position capped it, the hijack folded and Ospina called, before check-calling him on the flop of .
On the turn of the , Ospina led out and his opponent called all-in, showing for a gut-shot straight draw, trailing Ospina's . The put Ospina even further in front and the bricked out on the river, sealing the player's fate.
As the Ancient Roman prophet Fredericus Mercurio once proclaimed, "Another hath bitten the bust."
Jean-Robert Bellande got all of his stack in preflop with two callers. The flop came down and the action went check-check. When the fell on the turn, it proceeded to check around one more time. The fell on the river and one opponent bet and the other folded. Bellande flipped over which defeated his opponent's and was good enough for a triple up. Bellande is still sitting in the danger zone with around 4,500 in chips.
No, that's not a typo - Benjamin Yu has just smashed an opponent with quads and taken down another big pot to move up to more than 13,500 in chips.
We caught the action as Yu and an opponent were heads-up to a flop of ; the opponent, who only had 900 left in front of him, had his chips in his hand ready to commit, but Yu decided to check. The opponent fired out and Yu quickly check-raised, putting his opponent all-in.
Yu:
Opponent:
"I need a ten-jack pretty quick," the opponent muttered. The dealer produced the on the turn, then quickly revealed the case on the river to give Yu quad queens - as if drawing dead on the turn wasn't enough!
In the very next hand, Yu and another opponent in the cutoff went heads-up to a flop of ; the cutoff opened and Yu called before the cutoff check-called Yu's bets on the turn of the and the river . Yu rolled up for sixes full and the cutoff mucked.
Michael Mizrachi raised from middle position and was called by the player in the nine seat. The player in the big blind was on the short stack and re-popped the bet. The Grinder four-bet and seat nine got out of the way. Mizrachi's opponent in the big blind put the rest of his stack at risk and the owner of the chips in the middle was to be determined by the next five cards, as we were off to the races.
Mizrachi:
Opponent:
The flop came down giving the Grinder's opponent a set of tens and leaving Mizrachi with four jacks as outs. The turn and river were no help, however, as they fell and , and left Mizrachi without a significant amount of the chips that he started the hand with.
Another two players have been sent to the rail as the action continues here in the Pavillion Room.
Earlier, Erica Schoenberg was seen ducking under the rail on her way out; having nursed a stack worth just under 2,000 in chips at the dinner break, it didn't take her long to move the last of her money into the middle, but to no avail.
We can also report that both Karina Jett and Ted Forrest have also been eliminated, as has Brock Parker, who moved his last 100 into the middle preflop with , but found himself well behind the of Brian Feder.
The flop of changed nothing, but Parker spiked the on the turn to take the lead, only to be sent packing after Feder jagged the on the river.
However, we can now add Tom Schneider to the notables list; he's still well in contention, holding a stack worth more than 16,500.
Daniel Negreanu, down to his last bit of chips, was involved in a hand that was five-bet before the flop. Having only one bet left, Negreanu threw in his last bet in the dark. The flop came down and Negreanu flipped over his and said "What have you got? A set of what? You sure look happy". And while it was not a set that his opponent, Greg Wilson, held, it was the top pair top kicker of , which was enough to send Negreanu packing after a turn and the on the river.
An ever jovial Negreanu took right to the rail to take pictures with his fans, the smile never leaving his face.
Greg Wilson is our new chip leader holding around 40,000 in chips.
