Yan Chen opened with a raise to 700 from middle position and it folded around to the player in the big blind who promptly reraised to 3,200. Chen took a sip of his coffee, rechecked his cards, took another sip, then made the call.
The flop came , and Chen's opponent didn't waste too much time before betting 6,000. Chen again initially responded by taking a sip of his drink, then began riffling his green (25) chips. Then he started with the orange (5000) chips, then went back to his coffee.
Suddenly he interrupted the rhythm of his movements by setting out a stack of 29,000 in front of him. His opponent set out his remaining chips, too -- 28,700 total -- and the players turned over their cards.
Chen showed for aces and tens, but had the worse two pair as his opponent showed . The turn was the and river the , and all the chips went the way of Chen's opponent.
After that hit, Chen is suddenly down to about 3,000 chips.
We arrived at Jason Sackler's tabled with a board that read . Action was checked to Sackler and he bet 2,200. After a few moments, his opponent called. Both checked the turn card. The hit the river and once again action was checked to Sackler. He bet 4,100, getting called by his opponent after about 30 seconds.
Sacker tabled for a flush, good enough to win the pot.
The player under the gun opened for 700 and got called by Eli Elezra in middle position as well as a late position player. On the flop, UTG led for 1,200 and both others called. On the turn, UTG checked this time and Elezra bet 2,200. UTG called and checked again when the hit the river. Elezra made it 5,100 to go but UTG came back with a check-raise to 10,400 total. Elezra called only to be shown for the full house of his opponent as he mucked. Despite the loss, Elezra still has one of the biggest stacks in the field so far.
Janno Cazemier raised to 800 from middle position and Doyle Brunson called from the small blind. The flop came and both players checked. The turn brought the and after Brunson checked again Cazemier fired out a bet of 1,050 which prompted Brunson to lay his hand down.
Brunson has been having a rough go of it for the past couple of hours. We've seen him raise preflop a number of times only to fold to a re-raise or after an unfavorable flop. After this hand his stack was down to 20,300.
On a board reading , Darya Hulyk's opponent bet out 1,500. Hulyk quickly put in a raise, making it 3,500 total. After some pondering, her opponent made the call.
The river came and her opponent checked almost instantly. Hulyk thought for about a minute before rapping the table. Her opponent flipped over and Hulyk nodded her head, acknowledging that the hand was good. She sent her cards to the muck and took a hit to her stack.
We caught up with the action heads up on a flop where the big blind check-called a bet of 1,825 from Jeff Williams who was under the gun. Both players checked the on the turn and the big blind check-called another Williams bet of 2,500 when the hit the river. Williams turned over for top pair with a weak kicker which came into play when the big blind showed up with for a better kicker to win the pot.
The under-the-gun player opened to 700 and was called in four places from the player to his immediate left, the hi-jack, Olivier Busquet from the cutoff and the big blind.
The flop came and the big blind checked, prompting a 1,700 c-bet from the original preflop raiser. The player to his immediate left called, the hi-jack folded, Busquet called and the big blind folded.
The turn brought a and the under-the-gun player led out again for 3,275. The player to his left again called, as did Busquet.
The completed the board and the under-the-gun player checked. The player to his immediate left fired a 6,500 bet and Busquet called. The under-the-gun player looked unhappy and mucked. The early position player tabled for aces and sixes, but Busquet flipped over for a flopped flush, which was good enough to scoop the very large pot.
Busquet is currently all smiles and rightly so, as he is sitting with just about 85,000.
It was folded around to the cutoff who raised to 800 but was met with a three-bet to 2,450 from Faraz Jaka in the small blind. The big blind came in with a four-bet to 6,100 and the cutoff folded. Jaka then went into the tank for around four minutes before he moved all in. The big blind laid his hand down and Jaka showed and raked in the pot.
We just had a big hand involving 2010 November Niner Filippo Candio.
There was 3,000 in the middle when the flop came . Candio tossed out a bet of 1,700 from early position, then his opponent on the button raised to 4,200. Soon Candio was all in for his entire stack of 31,300, and his opponent -- covered by Candio -- made the call.
Candio showed for the nut flush draw plus outs to a wheel, while his opponent turned over for two pair. There was a delay while the players waited for the cameras to arrive to shoot the hand's conclusion, during which Candio stood quietly, looking up toward the ceiling and swaying back and forth.
Finally, the dealer burned and dealt the turn -- the !
Candio had caught a heart to make his flush, but still had to dodge his opponent filling up on the river. The river brought the and a brief pump of the fist from Candio. He'd eliminated an opponent, and moves up to 66,000.
