The Final Four

Since Peg Ledman's elimination, there's been a lot of raising and folding going on, with no flop seen for at least five minutes. Given the stack average relative to the blinds is so shallow, we could be in for an early night!

Peg Ledman Eliminated in 5th Place ($39,897)

Peg Ledman - 5th Place ($39,987)
Peg Ledman - 5th Place ($39,987)

With only three hands dealt since the resumption of play, we're now down to just four players after the elimination of Peg Ledman at the hands of Valerie McColligan.

The action folded to Ledman who open-shoved from the button for 132,000 and Karina Jett folded the small blind before McColligan snap-called from the big blind, showing down {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} against Ledman's {K-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

The dealer spread the board of {4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and with that, Ledman is our fifth place finisher, collecting $39,897 from the cage. It also means that Karina Jett is now guaranteed a third fourth-place finish in the WSOP Ladies Event!

Katherine Stahl Eliminated in 6th Place ($29,909)

In the first hand after the break, the action folded around to Katherine Stahl who shipped her last 155,000 into the middle before the flop with {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, but she was snap-called by Carol Tomlinson from the small blind. Stahl could only shrug her shoulders and smile as Tomlinson revealed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

Tomlinson improved to two pair on the flop of {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}, but Stahl picked up the straight draw with the {7-Diamonds} on the turn. Needing any ace or five, the river {3-Hearts} was two pips short, sending Stahl to the rail, but not without a big hug from Tomlinson.

Tomlinson is now in excess of 1.6 million in chips!

Jennifer Cowan Eliminated in 7th Place ($22,750)

On the last hand before the break, Jennifer Cowan raised to 35,000 from under the gun and received a call from Katherine Stahl in the small blind. Carol Tomlinson was in the big blind and said, “How can I fold here, I’m gonna flop the nuts!” before she called as well.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} and it was checked over to Cowan who bet 70,000. Stahl folded but Tomlinson check-raised and Cowan moved all in. Tomlinson made the call and the players turned over their hands.

Tomlinson: {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Cowan: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Amazingly, Tomlinson had flopped the nuts just as she had predicted and was in great shape to knockout Cowan who would need runner-runner to survive. The turn was the {K-Spades} and was as good as it could get for Cowan who made a set and would just need the board to pair to stay alive and win the hand. Unfortunately for her, it came the {4-Spades} and Cowan was eliminated while Tomlinson continued to build on her lead.

Wolak With Rockets

It was folded around to Jennifer Cowan on the button who raised to 38,000. Marsha Wolak three-bet to 70,000 from the small blind and Cowan made the call as the two saw the {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop. Wolak c-bet for 40,000 which got Cowan to fold and although she didn’t have to Wolak turned over {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} for a set of aces and the nuts at the time as a nice gesture to show her opponent that she was beat.
