Day 2 In The Books; Final Table Set!
Twelve hours ago 135 players sauntered into the blue section of the Amazon Room to tackle day two of Event #52: $2,500 Mixed Hold’em (Limit/No Limit). Now only nine remain. When the floor staff announced only three hands remained in the night, action seemed to open up and we managed to lose two players, bringing us down to the final nine. Now our official final table will appear tomorrow to do battle one last time.
No clear chip leader has dominated throughout the day, as players traded chips back and forth consistently during the limit rounds. However, at the end of play tonight, Brandon Meyers rose above the rest with a commanding stack of 1,200,000. Behind him is Noah Boeken with 599,000 and Matt Matros rounds out the top three with 535,000. Matros will be in the hunt for his second taste of WSOP prestige tomorrow, winning his first WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Event in 2010.
Today’s starting field of 135 had a slew of casualties today. The steep structure of the limit rounds left players with average-stack around eleven to thirteen big bets all day. One of the major notables to hit the rail today was Joseph Cheong who began the day as one of the chip leaders. For the first half of the day Cheong continued his domination, remaining one of the chip leaders. After the dinner break Cheong seemed to lose his momentum and eventually bled chips until he busted in 37th place. Also among those to hit the rail today were Mike Matusow, Jeffrey Lisandro, Erica Schoenberg, Maria Ho, Jimmy Fricke and Michael Binger.
Here is the seating draw for tomorrow's final table:
Seat | Player | Chip Count |
1 | Adam Sanders | 179,000 |
2 | Matt Matros | 535,000 |
3 | Matt Hawrilenko | 422,000 |
