Kings Are Good For Matusow
Limit Hold'em
A player raised in late position and Mike Matsow made the call. The flop came down and the player continued out with a bet. Matusow raised and the player three-bet all in. Matusow made the call, turning up which was ahead of his opponent's . The turn and river came and Matusow sent one to the rail.
Sitting directly behind Matusow was Allen Kessler who was holding a conversation with Matusow throughout the hand about the structure of this tournament. Kessler pointed out that one could stall in the game they don't like and angleshoot to get the blinds or buttons in the game they prefer. He suggested that the tournament not switch games based on time, but rather on number of hands played of each game. After scooping his pot, Matusow agreed.
"We're playing 400/800 and average stack is what? 8,000?" asked Matusow with a laugh. "I'll be willing to bet we have under a hundred players by the end of the night".
Regardless of the structure of the tournament, the late registration period is about to end soon so we'll find out exactly how many people are left in this tournament and how quickly they begin to drop.
