Franklin Out, Skalnsky Up

David Sklansky
David Sklansky

A player in the cutoff raised it up and got calls from David Sklansky in the small blind and Tom Franklin in the big blind. Franklin drew three and both Sklansky and the cutoff drew two. All three players checked the first round and Sklansky and the cutoff drew two again while Franklin stood pat.

Sklansky checked, Franklin went all in for his last 1,400, the cutoff folded and Sklansky called. Franklin again stood pat and Sklansky drew one more. He clearly hit it when he showed {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and Franklin's {10-}{8-}{x-}{x-}{x-} was no good as he hit the rail. Sklansky has built himself up a nice stack and is up around 38,000.

Matusow Takes One Down

With Tommy Hang betting preflop from the button Mike Matusow opted to two bet from he big blind. After Hang called he took two cards while Matusow took one. Matusow kept up his act of aggression with another bet, only to find himself being raised by Hang.

Both players took one card after Matusow made the call from Hang. Seemingly liking what he picked up Hang two bet and again Matusow called. With both players standing pat Hang checked and Matusow two bet. Hang didn't waste much time and threw his cards in the muck.

Monnette Losing Chips

After starting the day top 10 in chips, John Monnette has lost a good chunk of that here early on Day 2. Monnette raised it up before the first draw and was re-raised by Nicholas Verkaik on the button. Monnette put out a fourth bet and Verkaik called. Monnette stood pat and Verkaik drew two.

After the first draw, Monnette bet out and Verkaik called. Monnette stood pat again and Verakik drew one. Again, Monnette bet and Verkaik called. Monnette stood pat one last time and Verkaik drew one again. Both players checked and Verkaik showed the superior {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{2-} As Monnette was about to muck, Verkaik asked him to show his hand. Monnette showed {9-}{8-}{6-}{5-}{4-} and he has fallen to 26,000.

Elezra Throws Out the White Flag

Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra

We managed to catch up with Eli Elezra as he was check-raising after the first draw. His opponent called, and then opted to take one card while Elezra stood pat.

Keeping up this image of strength Elezra bet, and received a call. Aagain Elezra stood pat, as did his opponent. It was here that Elezra checked, and his opponent bet. After some mild tanking Elezra threw his cards away. His opponent proceeded to show Elezra a {5-}.

Fricke Can't Beat Hairabedian's Eight Perfect

After the first draw, Team PokerStars Pro and 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Joe Hachem bet out. Roger Hairabedian raised and then Jimmy Fricke made it three bets to go. Hachem tanked long and hard before he eventually folded. Hairabedian called. When Hairabedian called, he threw out too many chips. He didn't mean to raise, but Fricke could have called him on it if he wanted to. Fricke said that he didn't object and he was fine with Hairabedian just calling.

On the second draw, Hairabedian stood pat and Fricke drew two. Hairabedian then bet and Fricke raised. Hairabedian called.

On the third and final draw, Hairabedian was pat again, as was Fricke. Both players then checked.

Hairabedian tabled the {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for a eight perfect and Fricke mucked his hand.

Dwan's Hot Streak Ends.

Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan

After building his stack up to a respectable 17,000 early on in Level 1, Tom Dwan has found a way to get rid of all those new found chips and he is busto.

Dwan started the hand pretty short but raised it up from the button and was re-raised by Scott Seiver and Dwan called all in. Seiver and Dwan had the same drawing schedule after the all in as both drew two on the first draw, one on the second draw, and pat on the third draw. Seiver had the best of it though with {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-} and he scored the knockout of "durrrr". Look for Dwan to make his way straight to registration and continue his mission for that elusive first bracelet in whatever other events are going on today (find them on PokerNews.com of course)
