Berlin Doubles Through Carmody

Action began when Nachman Berlin raised to 100,000. Jacob Naquin got out of the way and Matthew Carmody three-bet to 415,000. Berlin moved his stack in, leaving his cards capped with one orange chip worth 5,000. Carmody announced call so the two players saw a flop without exposing their cards.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Carmody tossed in the last 5,000 along with Berlin. Their hands were turned over:

Berlin: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Carmody: {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Berlin was ahead with a set of jacks, but Carmody had open ended straight outs. The turn came {6-Spades} and the river {Q-Clubs}, failing to fulfill Carmody's straight and doubling Berlin up.

Akkari Picks Off Naquin Bluff

Livello 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

On a board of {5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Jacob Naquin led out for 150,000 with Andre Akkari making the call from the button.

The river of the {3-Hearts} saw Naquin fire 165,000 at the pot. Akkari didn't hesitate too long in making the call tabling his {A-Clubs}{6-Spades} as Naquin and his {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} chose to bluff the Brazilian at the wrong time.

Carmody Can't Push Off Akkari

Livello 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Andre Akkari raised the action to 90,000 preflop and Matthew Carmody called from the big blind.

The flop fell {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Carmody checked and Akkari fired out 160,000. Carmody made the call and the turn fell {J-Hearts}. The action went check-check and the two players saw a river of {A-Clubs}. Carmody bet out 370,000 and Akkari made the call.

Carmody moved his cards into the muck and Akkari flipped over {4-}{4-} for a flopped set of fours, which was enough to scoop the pot.

Berlin Folds Turn

Livello 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Jacob Naquin opened with an under the gun raise which Nachman Berlin called from the big blind.

Berlin check-called 145,000 on the {4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop as the {8-Hearts} on the turn was followed by a bet of 210,000 from Naquin. Berlin considered all his options before check-folding to see Naquin awarded the pot.

Poker Vox Pop: Maria Mayrinck on Andre Akkari

Livello 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Andre Akkari celebrating with his rail
Andre Akkari celebrating with his rail

Andre Akkari has one of the loudest and most chant-happy rails this World Series has seen ... well maybe they're not as good as the British rails, but they definitely have the numbers to take on any country!

So far PokerStars Team Pros Alexander Gomes and Gualter Salles have been spotted, as well as Team PokerStars Online member Diego ‘vgreen22’ Brunelli and Maria Mayrinck in amongst a sea of yellow and Brazilian flags.

Although Akkari is the table short stack at the moment with around 2,300,000, we decided to grab Maria for today's instalment of our Poker Vox Pop.

Is Andre better at football (or soccer to you Americans) or poker?
Tough one... I'm going to have to say poker because look how fat he is!

Does Andre love football or poker more?
It's a coinflip.

If Brazil were in the World Cup Final and he had a final table to play, would he be late to the final table?
He would come to the final table with an iPad and watch it while playing.

If Andre wins, how crazy are you guys going to go?
Oh my God... We will go absolutely insane. You'll have to call the ambulance! Because if he wins, it will be like Brazil winning the World Cup!
