We caught the action with the board reading . David Chiu had just bet and received calls from Phil Laak in the hijack and Brock Parker on the button. When the peeled off on the river, Chiu bet, Laak raised, Parker folded, and Chiu made the call.
Laak rolled over for a turned flush, which inspired Chiu to tap the table and toss his cards in the muck. Early pot to the Unabomber.
It was folded around to the hijack who raised and Dan Kelly re-raised on the button. The hijack called and check-raised on the flop. Kelly three-bet and the hijack just called. On both the turn and river, the hijack bet and Kelly called. The player instantly open mucked his hand when the final call was made and Kelly showed for two pair with a missed flush draw to take down the pot.
We just caught an action packed hand between Daniel Negreanu and Mike Thorpe.
After the flop came , Negreanu bet, Thorpe raised, Negreanu three-bet and Thorpe called.
The turn was the and Negreanu bet out again only to be raised by Thorpe once more. Negreanu opted to call and they saw the hit on the river.
Negreanu checked over to Thorpe who threw in a bet. Negreanu called and Thorpe flipped over his for a flopped set of jacks. Negreanu showed his with a frown on his face as Thorpe raked in a sizable pot.
In the field are friends Darren Woods and Tyler Bonkowski who both won their first bracelets earlier this week in limit hold'em events. Woods took down the $2,500 limit hold'em six-handed tournament early Tuesday morning while Bonkowski shipped the $3,000 full ring affair early Saturday morning. Both were on hand to watch the other win and were even in each other's victory photos. Needless to say, only one can win this limit tournament but perhaps they can at least finish 1-2.
The WSOP attracts players from all different nationalities and backgrounds, and cultures collided in a recent hand. Action had folded to Anh Van Nguyen in the small blind and it looked like he raised. Russian Vitaly Lunkin made the call from the big and it was heads up to the flop.
Nguyen didn't take long to bet, Lunkin called, and the hit the turn. Again Nguyen bet, but this time Lunkin put in a raise. Nguyen called and then led out when the appeared on the river. Lunkin put in another raise, Nguyen called, and the Russian flipped over for two pair. Nguyen rapped the table before tossing his cards in the muck.
Brock Parker and Phil Laak are definitely staying active!
With the board reading and a few thousand chips in the pot, Parker flipped over the for a turned two pair. Laak mucked his hand and Parker scooped up the pot.
(For those less familiar with obscure hand names, if you have a flat tire, it's what you use the jack "four")
