Paul Pierce is Here to Play

Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce

After facing a raise from early position preflop Paul Pierce and four others made the call to see a flop.

{9-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} all graced the felt. Two players checked, and Pierce fired out a bet, The Button and the Small Blind both came along for a turn, while the other two players folded.

A {3-Hearts} hit the turn, and Pierce moved all in. After some deliberation both players folded and Pierce showed the table {J-Clubs} {7-Clubs} for a gut shot draw bluff.

More Familiar Faces

The hits just keep on coming! Another trek through the Yellow section and we've managed to find 2009 WSOP Europe Main Event champion Barry Shulman and Aussie wunderkind Daniel Neilson sharing space on table 281. We've also found Jennifer Tilly, Bill Chen, Michael Mizrachi, Vanessa Selbst, Neil Channing and Garry Gates.

Meanwhile, over on table 30, we picked up a hand between David Chiu, and Patrick Howard, a computer technician from Olympia, Washington. Howard had moved all in after a flop of {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{K-Clubs}, but Chiu wasn't having a bar of it.

"I cant put you on ace-king," he sighed, before open-folding pocket jacks.

Jason Who?

Jason Mercier's first table has already broken, but they didn't seem to know who he is. Mercier opened for 50 and had three callers. The flop came {5-Spades} {A-Hearts} {4-Clubs} and Mercier bet out 125 and had two callers. The turn brought the {J-Clubs} and Mercier fired out 450 and had one caller. The river fell {7-Clubs} and Mercier fired again, this time 1,325. The last opponent called again and Mercier insta-mucked.

The guy that won tossed his cards into the muck without showing. Others at the table wanted to see the hand but the dealer had already washed the cards. One at the table said, "Someone should call the floor."

Mercier's reply: "I could care less."

A Few More Faces in The Crowd

A few more notables have found their seats in the Amazon Room that weren't there for the "Shuffle Up and Deal." We've spotted Olivier Busquet, Mark Seif, Vitaly Lunkin, Erick LIndgren, Chris Moorman and Marlon Shirley.

The board is showing 2,623 runners so far, and 3,000 entrants is a reachable number.

A Look Around the Amazon Room

The field is already over 2,500 registrants and the line outside tournament registrations is halfway down the hallway. Both Orange and Purple sections are full in the Amazon Room. Some of the notables we spotted are:

Jason Mercier
Kathy Liebert
Victor Ramdin
Jeff Madsen
Mike Beasley
Valdemar Kwaysser

First Walk Through

After completing our first walkthrough we noticed a handful of notables in this massive field. David Vamplew, Zach Gruneberg, Scott Montgomery, René Angélil, and Jerry Yang all have arrived and are ready to compete for what will be a very hefty prize.

Tables, Tables, Tables Everywhere

WSOP TD Jack Effel has announced that there are less than five minutes until cards are in the air. A giant field has registered for today's action, and people are spread across almost 300 tables. The field is in all sections of the Pavilion room with spillover into the Amazon room. The Amazon room tables will be breaking first.
