The flop came 9♦8♦3♠ and Thorel bet 100,000. Mateos called. Both players then checked down the 2♣ turn and 6♠ river and Thorel turned over A♦3♣ for a pair of threes. Mateos let out a laugh as he mucked.

Mateos got those chips back the next hand when he raised to 80,000 under the gun. Mike Watson three-bet to 230,000 in the small blind and Mateos moved all in for around 850,000. Watson quickly folded.

The next hand, Chidwick again raised to 80,000 from the hijack and Adrian Mateos defended his big blind. Action checked to the river on a board of 3♥9♥7♦8♣9♦ where Mateos led out for 140,000.

Chidwick used two time banks before raising to 510,000, leaving just one 5,000 chip behind. Mateos then used a time bank before folding.

Wattson continued with a bet of 140,000, followed by a call from Thorel. The 7♦ turn then slowed down Watson, who opted to check.

Thorel put in 400,000 chips, the majority of his stack, and Watson quickly folded, seeing the chiplead change hands back to the French all-time money leader.
