Van Luijk Spikes the River to Leave Nasreddine With Crumbs
Derk van Luijk raised to 1,100,000 on the button and Rania Nasreddine called in the big blind.
The flop came 4♠3♣J♥ and Van Luijk continued for 1,500,000. Nasreddine called and the 5♥ fell on the turn.
Van Luijk bet another 3,000,000, Nasreddine moved all in, and Van Luijk snap-called for his last 8,450,000.
Van Luijk showed J♣10♣ for top pair, but Nasreddine had turned two pair with 5♦4♣.
"No jack, no ten, no three," Nasreddine pleaded heading to the river as more than 22,000,000 was in the middle.
The dealer turned over the 10♦ and Van Luijk spiked a higher two pair to earn the massive double up. Van Luijk went to shake Boris Angelov's hand thinking he had lost the pot before Nasreddine told him he had survived.
"Oh my God, shit. I'm so sorry," Van Luijk said, sitting down to a massive chip lead much to his surprise.
