Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.

In the 15th episode, Connor speaks with statistician Nate Silver about his new book On the Edge: The Art of Risking Everything, election forecasting, founding and leaving FiveThirtyEight, his bad beats at feature tables, and co-hosting the Risky Business podcast with Maria Konnikova.

Silver also discusses the upcoming US presidential election, sports analytics, Limit Hold'em, his Silver Bulletin newsletter and why no one should be a nit in life.

Alexandre Fournier raised to 200,000 from under the gun, Harry Lodge three-bet to 500,000 from the hijack and Daniel Myers cold four-bet jammed for 2,620,000, from the small blind. Fournier called off the bet for his last 2,600,000 and Lodge folded.

The 6♠K♥10♠ flop gave Fournier top set, but Myers gained a straight draw. The 9♦ turn and 7♠ river were clean for Fournier and he found a huge double up, leaving Myers with just 20,000.

Hand Two:

Two hands later, Myers moved all in for 20,000 from the cutoff. Jianwei Lin raised to 225,000 on the button and Lodge called in the big blind.

The J♣10♠6♣ flop checked through to the K♣ on the turn. Lodge checked and then folded to a bet of 300,000 from Lin.

Jianwei Lin: A♥2♥

The river landed the 9♥; despite this being a chopped pot, Myers more than tripled up.

Boris Kuzmanovic woke up with A♥K♣ in the small blind and four-bet to 1,450,000.

Coleman folded and after using a time bank to think, Song elected to wisely fold his hand as well.

Jianwei Lin raised to 200,000 from the button and once again, Alexandre Fournier moved all in over Lin's open. Harry Lodge folded in the big blind to put the action back on Lin. The latter once again returned his cards to the dealer, showing the A♥ as he conceded the pot.

Lin asked Fournier to see one, and despite some reluctance, Fournier allowed Lin to see both, with his 7♦7♣ being turned over for all to see.

Andrew Hulme had a quiet opening level to Day 6, and he was one of the short stack entering the break. He's picked up some momentum after busting Jose Barbosa earlier on, dragging in consecutive pots.

Hulme made it 200,000 from under the gun and saw Marius-Catalin Pertea call from the big blind. Pertea check-folded to a bet of 180,000 on the J♠8♦2♣ flop. On the next deal, Hulme defended his big blind after Lodge opened to 200,000. The 8♦7♦2♠ flop checked through to the 6♦ turn. Hulme led out for 180,000, which forced his compatriot out of the pot.

The A♣4♥9♥ flop checked through to the J♣ on the turn. Lin bet out 200,000 and Fournier called.

The K♦ river saw Lin size up to 650,000. Fournier tanked before making a frustrated fold. Lin distinguished any speculation as he flashed K♣K♥ to the table, having rivered a set.

The turn brought the J♦ and Coleman checked again after turning top pair. Kovalski checked back again.

The river saved Kovalski though, bringing the A♣. Coleman checked a final time and Kovalski checked his winning pair of aces.

Lin recouped his lost chips on the next deal as his raise to 200,000 went uncontested.

Lodge responded by moving all in for Barbosa's effective stack of 1,200,000 and Barbosa was forced to fold, leaving himself very short.
